Eagles Drop First Two Games Against Georgia Tech

Anderson twirls eleven innings on Friday, Slike homers on Saturday
BRIGHTON, Mass. – Boston College softball dropped their first two games against Georgia Tech this weekend, losing 3-1 on Friday in eleven innings, and 14-2 on Saturday in five innings. BC will enter Sunday 15-19 (2-11). Georgia Tech is now 27-11 (8-9).
On Friday, Susannah Anderson was masterful in the circle for the majority of her 11.0 innings of work. She allowed just two earned runs, and struck out eight Yellow Jackets while throwing over 200 pitches. Anderson's 11.0 innings is tied for fourth in individual single game innings pitched in BC history.
Senior center fielder Ellie Mataya had half of the Eagles' hits on Friday with three base knocks. Abigail Knight, Nicole Giery, and Kali Case were responsible for the rest of BC's hits. Hannah Slike drove in the lone run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
The Georgia Tech bats dominated on Saturday, racking up 14 runs on 16 hits. Peyton Schnackenberg was dealt the loss in the contest.Â
Offensively, Kamryn Warman and Slike led the charge for BC. Warman got the scoring going with a RBI double to right center in the bottom of the first and added a single in the third. Slike crushed her third home run of her freshman campaign well over the scoreboard in the third inning. Mataya and Giery were responsible for the only other Eagles' hits.
Game three of the series is set for Sunday at noon at Harrington Athletics Village. The game will be streamed on ACCNX.
