No. 25 Louisville Breaks Through Late to Beat Boston College

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Boston College held 25th-ranked Louisville at bay for more than 75 minutes on Friday night, but a pair of late goals lifted the Cardinals past the Eagles 2-0 in ACC play at Lynn Stadium.

BC dropped to 3-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the ACC, while Louisville improved to 6-2-0 (3-0-0 ACC).

Sophomore Brennan Klein earned his first collegiate start in the Boston College net and finished the night with eight saves. He stopped four Louisville shots in each half, his best two coming on back-to-back efforts from Eric Danquah in the 31st minute.

Ugo Achara finally broke the scoreless deadlock to give Louisville a 1-0 lead in the 77th minute, heading a corner inside the left post to beat Klein.

20 seconds after the opening goal, Adama Kaba was shown a red card and the Eagles were forced to play with 10 men for the final 13 minutes.

Nico Diaz converted a rebound in the 87th minute to double the Cardinals' lead and seal the ACC points for UL.

Stefan Sigurdarson led the team with a pair of shots.

Boston College returns home next Friday (Oct. 1) to host No. 12 Virginia Tech at 7 p.m.
