No. 4 Eagles Rout Fairfield in NCAA Opener

NEWTON, Mass. – Charlotte North tied the BC record for goals in an NCAA Tournament game with seven as the Boston College lacrosse team defeated Fairfield in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 14 in Newton, Mass.

North led the team with seven points, while Jenn Medjid (4G, 2A) and Cara Urbank (2G, 3A) had six points and five points, respectively. Medjid became the 28th Eagle to join the 100-point club, doing so in 46 games. Belle Smith had two goals and an assist for her fifth-straight multi-point game.

BC scored the first three goals of the game off two from North and one from Annie Walsh, and scored nine of the first 10 goals of the game. The Eagles hit their first 10-goal lead at the 7:46 mark of the first half.

The Eagles doubled up the Stags in shots (35-17) and had 18 draw controls to Fairfield's eight. North led the way with 10 draws, the third-most in an NCAA Tournament game by a BC player, while Hollie Schleicher and Urbank each had three.

BC had a running clock for the final 32:17 of the game.

Freshmen Andrea Reynolds and Kayla Martello each scored their first NCAA Tournament goals of their careers, while senior Bridget Simmons scored her first-career goal at BC.

- Recently named a Tewaaraton Award finalist, Charlotte North scored seven goals and had 10 draw controls on the day. She now has 78 goals and 88 points, as well as 151 draw controls on the year.
- Jenn Medjid tallied her 100th-career point today, scoring four goals and adding two assists. She is third on the team with a career-high 59 points this season.
- Cara Urbank had her 11th multi-assist game this season and her sixth-straight. She leads the team with 36 assists and is second on the team with 70 points.
- Rachel Hall moves to 14-3 on the season, making two saves on five shots.
- Belle Smith had three points, giving her 54 on the year. She is now one point behind Covie Stanwick and Brooke Blue for most points in a freshman season at BC.
