Eagles, Demon Deacons Battle to 1-1 Tie

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Boston College women's soccer team battled Wake Forest into overtime on Thursday afternoon, but the two ACC rivals ultimately played to a 1-1 tie at Spry Stadium.
After a scoreless first half that saw goalkeeper Allie Augur make three saves, Sam Smith slotted home her fifth goal of the season in the 85th minute. Wake Forest was able to find an equalizer in the 89th minute.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the extra time, with both Augur and Wake Forest's Kaitlyn Parks making two stops, but the teams played to the second consecutive tie in the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 85' | As Wake Forest tried to move the ball up the field, Jillians Jennings put pressure on a defender and was able to knock the ball loose and touch it over to Smith. Smith picked up the ball and dribbled it into the box before slotting a left-footed pass through the legs of a charging Parks.
- 89' | Sophie Faircloth sent in a high corner towards the far post and Olivia Stowell ran through the ball and one touched it under the crossbar for the equalizer.
- Wake Forest had the 25-11 lead in shots but Boston College held the 8-7 lead in shots on goal.
- The Demon Deacons had a 14-5 lead in corners.
- Allie Augur finished with six saves for the Eagles while Kaitlyn Parks finished with seven for Wake Forest … Augur had her shutout streak ended at 288 minutes.
- The Eagles now hold a mark of 8-7-2 in the all-time series with Wake Forest … BC is 2-7-1 on the road against the Demon Deacons.
- This marked the third consecutive meeting in the series between Boston College and Wake Forest that went to overtime … 13 of the 17 meetings in the series have been decided by one goal or less.
- Sam Smith scored her fifth goal of the season … it was the sophomore's third in the last three games and fourth in the last five games.
- This marked the second consecutive game against Wake Forest that Jillian Jennings recorded an assist.
- Smith led the Eagles with four shots and three shots on goal on the day.
