Seminoles capture two wins to start the series
BRIGHTON, Mass. – No. 12 Florida State held off a Boston College rally in the sixth inning to capture a 3-2 victory in the series opener Friday at Harrington Athletics Village. The Seminoles completed the doubleheader sweep with a 5-0 victory in the second game.

The two wins move the Seminoles to 18-6 overall and 6-2 in the ACC while BC fell to 5-13 overall and 1-6 in ACC play.

Both starters in game one kept each team off the scoreboard until the fifth when FSU scored three runs. Devyn Flaherty broke the tie with a solo home run to left center and Elizabeth Mason added a RBI single and Kalei Harding knocked in a run with a RBI triple to give FSU a 3-0 lead.

BC fought back for two runs in the sixth as Ellie Mataya doubled off the wall in left to score Erika Andal and Nicole Giery delivered a sacrifice fly to score Djhane Valido.

FSU starter Kathryn Sandercock made the 3-2 lead stand as she went the distance for the win. She struck out two and allowed two hits in seven innings of work.

BC starter Susannah Anderson pitched well and also threw a complete game, allowing just four hits and three runs in seven innings.

In game two, three FSU pitchers combined for a no-hitter as the Seminoles blanked the Eagles, 5-0. Anna Shelnutt delivered the big hit for FSU with a grand slam in the third to give FSU the lead.

CC Cook pitched five innings for the Eagles and allowed four unearned runs to go along with five strikeouts.

BC and FSU continue the series Saturday at 2 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
