Jenna Ergle homered in game one for BC
BRIGHTON, Mass - Boston College dropped both games of a doubleheader against No. 12 Florida State on Saturday afternoon at Harrington Athletics Village. FSU defeated BC 4-1 in the first game and 10-2 in five innings in the second game of the doubleheader.

The Seminoles improved to 20-6 overall and 8-2 in ACC play while the Eagles dropped to 5-15 and 1-8 in ACC play.Â

Starting pitcher Susannah Anderson opened game one strong, holding the Seminoles hitless through the first five innings of the contest. She worked around four baserunners while striking out one during that stretch.

Jenna Ergle broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning with her third home run of the season over the wall in left.Â

The Eagles were unable to add on to their lead in the fifth inning, stranding runners on first and third when Emme Martinez grounded out to end the frame.

Anderson ran into trouble in the sixth inning, allowing four runs on two hits as the Seminoles went ahead 4-1.

Kathryn Sandercock held BC scoreless over 3.1 innings to secure the win for the Seminoles.

In game two, Florida State opened the scoring in the third inning when Kalei Harding scored Devyn Flaherty on an RBI single.

The Eagles answered with two of their own in their half of the third. Martinez and Ergle notched back to back RBI singles to flip the script and give BC a 2-1 lead.

Florida State charged back with five runs in the fourth inning, all coming with two outs. The big hit in the frame was off the bat of Harding, as she plated three runs on an RBI triple.

The Seminoles broke game two open in the fifth inning, scoring four runs to extend their lead to 10-2. BC failed to score in the home half of the inning and FSU captured the 10-2 win in five innings.

Ellie Mataya went 3-for-3 with a run scored for the Eagles in game two.

Boston College returns to action next Thursday at Virginia. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. from Charlottesville on ACC Network.
