No. 6 Eagles Roll Past Holy Cross 5-1 to Win Icebreaker

WORCESTER, Mass. – No. 6 Boston College scored four goals in the opening 12 minutes on Saturday night and never looked back as the Eagles won the 2021 Icebreaker Tournament with a 5-1 victory over Holy Cross at the DCU Center.

BC out-shot Holy Cross 41-19 on the night and held the Crusaders without a single power play. It was the first time a Boston College team has accomplished the feat since Nov. 5, 2010 against UNH. The Eagles were 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

Senior captain Marc McLaughlin scored a pair of goals in the first period, including the power play tally, while graduate transfer Brandon Kruse and rookie Matt Argentina registered their first goals in a BC sweater.

Junior Marshall Warren posted a goal and an assist while freshman Connor Joyce collected the first two assists of his career. Senior assistant captain Jack McBain also had a pair of assists in the win.

McLaughlin and Warren were both named to the Icebreaker All-Tournament Team.

Sophomore Henry Wilder made the start in net and stopped 18 of the 19 Crusader shots he faced for his second career victory.

Boston College will host No. 18 Northeastern next Friday night at 7 p.m. in the home opener and Hockey East opener at Kelley Rink.
