Eagles Drop League Opener to Northeastern

Teddy Stiga scored his second goal of the season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No.11/10 Boston College men's hockey team dropped its Hockey East opener on Thursday night to Northeastern, falling by a score of 4-1 at Kelley Rink. Teddy Stiga scored for the Eagles, while Oskar Jellvik and James Hagenseach had an assist.
Boston College moves to 2-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in Hockey East while Northeastern improves to 4-1-0 and 2-0-0 in league play.
Northeastern opened the scoring late in the first period, scoring two goals just 43 seconds apart from James Fisher and Vinny Borgesi.
The Eagles cut into the deficit late in the opening period when Stiga scored on the power play. Hagens ripped a shot from the right faceoff circle that went wide but went out to the left side towards Jellvik. Jellvik, off-balance, put a shot towards goal that Stiga redirected from close range to throw off the Northeastern goaltender and the puck bounced into the back of the net.
Neither team was able to add to their scores during the second frame, even though Boston College held a 15-5 shots on goal advantage over the 20-minute span.
The Huskies re-established their two-goal lead early in the third period when Dylan Hryckowian was able to put home a loose puck bouncing around the crease. Northeastern added an empty net goal in the final 15 seconds of the game.
