Eagles coming off big win at New England Catholic Invitational
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Eagles will welcome Army to Chestnut Hill tonight to commence their dual meet action of the 2021 season. This marks the second consecutive year these two teams have clashed in a dual meet, with Army taking home victories in both the men's and women's competitions last year. On the men's side, the Eagles fell 191-88 while the women lost 151-127.Â
The Eagles will return with several key performers of last year's meet. Junior Lindsey Ryalls won both the 500 Free (5:01.80) and the 1000 Free (10:21.90) at last year's meet, and Ryalls will look to replicate that after taking second in the 200 IM and fifth in the 200 Free at the New England Catholic Invitational. Kasey Anderson was right behind Ryalls in the 500 Free, finishing with a second-place time of 5:08.39 at last year's meet. The Eagles beat Army the 200 Free Relay in 2020 and will return three of its legs in Katie Drumm, Sofia Zinis, and Haley Dolan. That trio, along with Kelly Scott, won the event at the New England Catholic Invitational last weekend.Â
On the men's side, Kyle Floyd will look to defend his 100 Fly title against Army after swimming a 49.32 to win the event last year. Teammate Matt Szekely was right behind him with a second-place time of 50.11, and the duo will look for more of the same on Friday.Â
The dual meet will begin at 5:00 p.m. tonight, October 8, in the Margot Connell Recreation Center.Â
