Eagles Split Midweek Meet Against Tufts

The women's swim and dive team earned the win but the men's team fell by a narrow margin
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College swim and dive team opened the Connell Recreation Center for the first time in 2020 with a dual meet against local foe Tufts, splitting the day as the women earned the win but the Jumbos bested the men. The Eagle women gathered 266 points to Tufts' 110, but the Tufts men defeated the Eagles, 195-179.

- Ellie Uhl took the overall win in the 1-meter dive, earning a score of 233.30. Mackenna Buchanan (216.20) and Kate Cilley (215.85) placed third and fourth, respectively.
- The Eagles' relay teams swept the three spots in the 200 yard medley relay: Nicole Barkemeyer, Taylor Covington, Victoria Lin and Haley Dolan placed first (1:45.77) while Sofia Zinis, Anna Milia, Mary Kate Gannon and Ali Kea placed second (1:46.17).
- Kristina Fecarotta placed first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.40.
- Lindsey Ryalls earned the top spot in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in 1:54.34. She also placed first in the 200 yard butterfly with a 2:06.94 finish.
- Grace Edwards (58.96) and McGeary (59.00) placed first and second in the 100 yard backstroke.
- Covington (1:06.27), Lantin (1:07.79) and Barkemeyer (1:08.15) swept the top three finishes in the 100 yard breaststroke.
- Lin (25.94), Ashleigh Scott (26.01) and Gannon (26.07) earned the top three finishes in the 50 yard butterfly.
- Dolan (23.55), Zinis (23.92) and Kea (23.98) swept the top three spots in the 50 yard freestyle.
- Scott (52.27), Kea (52.48) and Lauren Quinn (53.86) placed first through third in the 100 yard freestyle.
- Edwards placed first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.42.
- Zinis and Lin tied for first in the 50 yard backstroke, both finishing in 27.01.
- Julia Donahue (2:25.15) and Milia (2:25.26) placed first and second in the 300 yard breaststroke.
- Covington took the win in the 50 yard breaststroke, finishing in 30.70.
- Gannon (56.72), Ryalls (57.45) and Covington (59.02) swept the top three finishes in the 100 yard butterfly.
- Donahue (2:09.70) and Maddie King (2:13.01) placed first and second in the 200 yard individual medley.
- Gannon (1:00.04), Edwards (1:00.69) and Quinn (1:01.10) swept the top three finishes in the 100 yard individual medley.
- The relay team of Scott, Dolan, Zinis and Kea earned the overall win in the 100 yard freestyle relay, finishing in 1:34.75.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Dale Nickerson earned first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 232.50. He also won the 3-meter dive, earning 329.25 points.
- The relay team of Colin O'Leary, Sami Fares, Sam Roche and Michael Hinton placed second in the 200 yard medley relay, finishing in 1:33.04.
- Stephan Todorovic placed second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a 9:39.91 finish.
- Zach Szmania (1:42.87) and Roche (1:43.90) placed first and second, respectively, in the 200 yard freestyle. Szmania also placed first in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing in 4:35.60.
- O'Leary (51.31) and Matt Szekely (53.13) placed second and third in the 100 yard backstroke.
- Matt Clark earned the overall win in the 100 yard breaststroke with a 56.95 finish. He also placed second in the 100 yard freestyle, finishing in 45.34.
- Cole Gvozdas (1:55.73) and Zander Santana (1:57.83) placed second and third in the 200 yard butterfly.
- Hinton placed first in the 50 yard butterfly with a 23.15 finish while O'Leary tied for second with a 23.55 performance.
- Damion Geoghegan Ribeiro placed second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.08.
- Roche earned the top spot in the 50 yard backstroke, finishing in 23.25.
- Fares placed first in the 50 yard breaststroke, finishing in 26.48.
- O'Leary (51.45) and Hinton (52.11) placed first and second in the 100 yard butterfly.
- Max Threlkeld (53.11), Kevin Chandra (54.53) and Jon Farah (54.81) placed second through fourth, respectively, in the 100 yard individual medley.
