Then, BC fought back, scoring two second half goals before eventually winning the game in overtime.
Â
It was a game that the Eagles seemed to have control of, outshooting the Demon Deacons 19-8. Wake Forest, though, did make eight saves, while BC didn't have any and BC had seven penalty corners to Wake's four.
Â
Last Weekend
Boston College was back in Newton for two games against regional foes. It was an important weekend for the Eagles, who had to come away with two wins before beginning ACC play.
Â
On Friday, BC faced off against Dartmouth, where the Eagles won 5-2 off a pair of goals from both Margo Carlin and Elizabeth Warner. Sky Caron also started her weekend off with a bang, scoring BC's final goal.
Â
Then on Sunday, the Eagles had another strong offensive day, defeating crosstown rival Northeastern, 6-2. BC had a balanced attack with five different goal scorers, while Sky Caron had a pair of goals.
Â
Scouting Wake Forest
Wake Forest enters the game 1-4 with its lone win at home against Penn on Sept. 6. The Demon Deacons have had an incredibly difficult schedule, playing ranked teams in four of their five games and three top-10 opponents.
Â
Offensively, freshman Nat Friedman leads Wake Forest with two goals on the season, while only two other Demon Deacons have scored this season.
Â
In goal, Isla Bint has been the only one to see action, playing and starting in all five games. She has given up only nine goals on 26 shots on goal for Wake Forest, making 17 saves.
Â
NFHCA Coaches Poll
BC comes in at No. 17 in the most recent NFHCA Coaches Poll. Last week, the Eagles were ranked 19th after suffering a pair of losses on the road to Maryland and Northwestern. All seven of the ACC schools are ranked in the top-20 this week.
Â
Carlin's Calling
Freshman Margo Carlin is off to a hot start in the maroon and gold, scoring six goals in her first six career games. Carlin opened the season with the game-winning goal against Providence before scoring her second against Fairfield the next game. The forward then added her third against No. 15 Northwestern this past Sunday. She recently added three goals to her tally last weekend, scoring twice against Dartmouth and once against Northeastern.
Â
Spreading the Love
BC has had seven different goal scorers so far this season and 10 different players register a point. Leading the way for the Eagles is Fusine Govaert, who has four goals and three assists so far this year.
