Eagles Drop First Game at Pitt, 11-0

First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Boston College softball team lost to Pittsburgh, 11-0, in the first game of a three-game series this weekend at the Vartabedian Field. Boston College dropped to 18-33 and 4-18 in the ACC, while Pittsburgh is now 12-41 and 5-17 in the conference.
Boston College senior Lexi DiEmmanuele had a solid day at the plate with three hits and a stolen base. She has hit safely in four consecutive games. Â Freshman Kristin Giery extended her hitting streak to three games with a single to left field in the first inning.
Freshman pitcher Susannah Anderson had a one-hitter through the first 3.2 innings. She then hit two batters and was relieved by Camryn Dolby in the fourth. CC Cook relieved Dolby in the fourth and retired the final batter of the inning. Kendra Friedt pitched to one batter in the last inning.
Pittsburgh scored five runs in the fourth inning and six in the sixth inning. Prior to the fourth inning, the Panthers bats were silent as they did not register a hit until the fifth batter in the fourth inning. A double from Walker Barbee knocked in the first two runs.
The Panthers finished the games with six hits, including two home runs and one double. Hunter Levesque had one hit and two RBI, while Alex Smolak had a grand slam in the sixth inning. The winning pitcher Sarah Dawson scattered seven hits, walked three and struck out four.
