Eagles Race Well During Penn Relays Weekend

BC's distance medley relay finishes sixth in Championship of America
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — The men's track & field team enjoyed some outstanding performances on the sport's biggest stage at the 125th Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Three Boston College relay teams raced in the prestigious Championship of America sections - the distance medley, 4x800, and 4xMile quartets.
In Friday's DMR, the Eagles placed sixth overall - less than four seconds behind the winner Wisconsin. Ian Ritchie led off the a 2:59.6 lead off on the 1,200m leg, followed by Marcus Manson in 48.05 at 400m, Matt Morano 1:51.36 at 800m, and Sean Burke closing it out in 4:11.03 the 1,600m. Â
On Saturday, in the Championship of America 4x800m, BC's squad of Russell Wells (1:53.46), Morano (1:51.36), Mick Hains (1:55.99), and Andrew Willis (1:55.04) teamed to finish eighth overall. The COA 4xMile team of Ritchie (4:10.9), Burke (4:10.4), Erik Linden (4:21.0), and Sean Sullivan (4:15.0) finished in 10th place.
BC was third in the college men's sprint medley (200-200-400-800) relay, with Richard Webber, Khalfani Green, Stephen Windisch, and Colin Trigani crossing the line in a time of 3:29.78.
Several BC athletes competed individually through the weekend. During Thursday's night's distance carnival, Boston College's trio of runners in the 3,000m steeplechase enjoyed setting new personal best times. Sullivan ran the fifth-best time in BC history for the steeple, clocking 9:01.45 - good for 10th. Ben Osipow ran 9:14.40, while Kyle Faddis ran 9:22.45.
In the college men's 400m hurdles championship, Max Herrerias ran a time of 55.35, while Green ran 56.05. Avery McKenzie registered a mark of 13.72m (45'0.25") in the college men's triple jump.
