No. 24 Virginia Tech Tops Eagles, 10-2

Eagles-Hokies return to the diamond on Saturday at 1.
BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College softball team fell to No. 24 Virginia Tech, 10-2, in an ACC game on Friday night at the Harrington Athletics Village. Boston College dropped to 15-30, 4-15 in the ACC, while Virginia Tech improved to 41-8 and 18-4 in the conference.
Senior Lexi DiEmmanuele led the offense with three hits and a stolen base, while red-shirt freshman Jenna Ergle had two hits and two RBI. Susannah Anderson took the loss on the mound as she pitched just 2.2 innings and gave up seven hits and seven walks.
The Hokies scored 10 runs on eight hits and left 10 runners on base. BC had two runs on five hits and left six runners on base.
Virginia Tech scored four runs on two hits in the first inning. The Hokies first three batters walked to load the bases. A wild pitch and a single by Emma Strouth gave the Hokies a 2-0 lead. After the fourth walk of the inning Anderson was replaced by Camryn Dolby. A fielder's choice pushed the lead to 3-0 and a single from Meredith Shaw knocked in the fourth run of the inning.
The lead grew to 7-0 after the Hokies scored three runs on two hits in the third inning.
The Eagles got on the board in the fourth inning on a two-run double from Jenna Ergle.
Virginia Tech came back with two more runs in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth for the win. Keely Richard was the winning pitcher as she improved to 19-3 on the season. Richard went the distance with six strikeouts.
