Friedt Leads Eagles Past Holy Cross, 6-1

BC to host Virginia Tech the weekend.
WORCESTER, Mass. – Boston College senior Kendra Friedt pitched a complete game, scattered three hits and struck out four to lead the Eagles past Holy Cross, 6-1, at Freshman Field in a non-conference game on Wednesday.
Boston College improved to 16-29 on the season, while Holy Cross dropped to 10-31.
Friedt (2-1) earned the win in just her second start and first complete game.
The Eagles scored six runs on eight hits and left seven runners on base. Holy Cross had three hits and left four runners on base.
BC was led by senior Allyson Moore with two hits, while freshman Kristin Giery went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Â Rookie infielder Carlie Sanders went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while senior Lexi DiEmmanuele and freshman Ellie Mataya each had a hit and RBI.
The Eagles opened up the scoring in the fourth inning as Moore and Gianna Boccagno put two on base with back-to-back singles. Kristin Giery hit a double to right to plate both runs for a 2-0 lead.
Holy Cross cut into the lead when Jessie Nagel doubled to right to score Bailey Chavez in the fourth.
Boston College pulled away with a four-hit, four run sixth inning. With one out, Moore doubled to right. Boccagno and Giery walked to load the bases. With two down, Sanders singled to right as Moore and Boccagno scored. DiEmmanuele hit an infield single to score Giery. Sanders scored on a single by Mataya, as BC pushed the lead to 6-1.
Friedt allowed just one base runner in the last two innings to preserve the 6-1 victory.

-Boston College will host Virginia Tech this weekend. The first game is scheduled to play on Friday ta 6. Saturday's first pitch will be at 1 p.m., followed by Senior Day on Sunday at noon.
