Eagles tally four home runs; Knight enters top 10 for a single season

Brighton, Mass. – The Boston College softball team (11-28, 2-12 ACC) fell 6-4 in extra innings to Syracuse (13,16, 2-9 ACC) Saturday afternoon at Harrington Athletics Village.

Syracuse struck first in the top of the second, plating two runs on a single to take a 2-0 lead. Boston College responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Nicole Riddell homered to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Kelly Colleran kept Syracuse off the board in the third with a scoreless inning, while Sammy Horn and Emma Knight sparked the offense with back-to-back singles in the bottom half.

Syracuse added two runs in the fifth to extend its advantage. Boston College answered in a big way in the sixth, as Adriana Martinez and Janis Espinoza delivered back-to-back home runs to cut into the deficit to a run.

Emma Knight kept the energy alive with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 4-4 and go to extra innings.

After a scoreless eighth inning, Syracuse recorded a pair of RBI hits to reclaim a two run lead. The Eagles could not capitalize in the bottom frame, as the Orange held on for a 6-4 decision.
