Boston College Walks Off Syracuse, 7-6

BRIGHTON, Mass. — The Boston College softball team (12-29, 3-12 ACC) defeated Syracuse (14-17, 3-10 ACC), 7-6, Sunday afternoon at Harrington Athletics Village.
Boston College struck first in the bottom of the first, plating two runs to take an early 2-0 lead. Janis Espinoza drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly before Holly Paharik followed with an RBI hit-by-pitch to bring in another.
The Eagles added to their lead in the third inning, as Espinoza singled to score Abby Ptak and extend the advantage to 3-0.
Syracuse responded in the fourth inning, capitalizing on an error before Kendall Gaunt delivered an RBI double to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Orange added another run in the fifth, using a Peyton Schemmer RBI double to trim the deficit to 3-2.
Boston College maintained its lead through the middle innings, holding Syracuse scoreless in the sixth.
Syracuse mounted a late rally in the seventh inning, scoring four runs on four hits to take a 6-3 lead.
The Eagles answered in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four runs to walk it off. Boston College capitalized on timely hitting and Syracuse miscues to complete the comeback and secure the 7-6 victory.
