Eagles Drops Game One to Syracuse

BRIGHTON, Mass. - The Boston College softball team (11-28, 2-11 ACC) fell 4-1 to Syracuse (13-16, 3-16 ACC) at Harrington Athletics Village on Friday afternoon.
Syracuse struck first in the opening inning, using aggressive baserunning to get a runner into scoring position before Madison Knight delivered an RBI single to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Eagles threatened in the first inning after Emma Knight reached and advanced to third, but were unable to bring her home, leaving the deficit at one.
Boston College continued to apply pressure in the second, putting runners on base after Janis Espinoza was hit by a pitch and Nicole Riddell drew a walk, but Syracuse worked out of the inning to keep BC off the board.
BC broke through in the fifth inning to tie the game at 1-1, as Emma Knight came around to score on a wild pitch.
The Orange responded in the seventh inning, stringing together timely hitting that resulted in three runs to regain the lead at 4-1.
Boston College was unable to answer in the bottom of the inning as Syracuse closed out the game to secure the win.
