Clemson Outlasts Boston College 5-2

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Clemson won the final two singles matches on Friday to clinch a 5-2 ACC victory over Boston College at the Flynn Recreation Complex. The Eagles fell to 6-15 (0-12 ACC) while the Tigers improved to 9-15 (2-9 ACC).
Clemson began the match by winning the doubles point following 6-3 and 6-4 wins from the No. 1 and 2 slots.
BC tied the score at one when Pierre-Louis Dodens retired after dropping the first set to Max Mendelsohn 6-3 in No. 4 singles.
The Tigers regained the lead at 2-1 when Yizhou Liu defeated Chris Grasel in straight sets, and Teodor Guisca added another point as he came back to beat Markus Nordby 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Conor Mullins brought the Eagles back within one with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Mike Agee, but Simon Baudry held off Derek Austin in three sets to clinch the match for Clemson at No. 1 singles.
Sean Mullins fell in a tight match at No. 6 singles against Jacob Jahn to close the match.
Boston College finishes the regular season with a doubleheader on Sunday (April 14) against No. 40 Georgia Tech and Bentley beginning at 12 p.m. Sunday is Senior Day and will mark the final two matches at the Plex.
