
Eagles Lose To Syracuse, 8-3

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College softball team lost to ACC foe Syracuse, 8-3, on Sunday in the final of a three-game series at the Harrington Athletics Village. The Eagles won the overall series, 2-1 and is now 10-16 on the season and 2-4 in the ACC. Syracuse is now 10-18 and 2-4 in the ACC.
Sophomore Emme Martinez led Boston College offensively as she went 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBI with two doubles. Senior Lexi DiEmmanuele went 2-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base.
Syracuse had just four hits in the win but three were home runs, two by sophomore Gabby Teran. Junior pitcher Alexa Romero (6-5) went seven innings, struck out nine and gave up three earned runs.
BC took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when DiEmmanuele walked and stole second. She scored on a single to right by Martinez.

The Orange tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning. In the third inning, Teran hit a home run to left for a 2-1 Syracuse lead. BC replaced starting pitcher Savannah Anderson with Camryn Dolby with two on and no out. The Orange went up 3-1 on a wild pitch, but Dolby settled down and got two batters to flyt out and struck out another to end the inning.

Syracuse extended the lead, 5-1, in the fifth inning behind a two-run home run from junior Toni Martin. The lead grew to 7-1 in the sixth inning when Teran hit her second home run of the game.  The Eagles gave up the eight run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly and Syracuse held an 8-1 lead.

BC cut into the lead with two out in the seventh when DiEmmanuele tripled to center. After Ellie Mataya walked, Martinez hit them both home on a double to right center. Romero stopped any BC attempt at a comeback by getting Allyson Moore to pop up to end the game.

- The Eagles left seven runners on base in the game.
- Freshman Savannah Anderson took the loss. She is now 4-8 on the season.
- Sophomore Emme Martinez tallied four hits in the loss. She 8-for-10 with six RBI and four doubles in the three-game series vs. Syracuse. The four hit game was her sixth multi-hit game of the season. Her season-high was five hits vs. Michigan State on Feb. 15.
- Senior Lexi DiEmmanuele finished the three game series with six hits, four runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases.
- Freshman pitcher Camryn Dolby had two wins over the weekend. She pitched in 14 innings, gave up five hits and struck out 15.
- Boston College leads the overall series, 14-10.
