Eagles Fall to North Carolina, 8-0, in Series Finale

BC to host Quinnipiac on Tuesday at 5
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Boston College softball team (7-14, 0-3 ACC) was held to one hit by North Carolina, as the Eagles fell, 8-0, in five innings at Anderson Stadium on Sunday.
BC managed two hits off of North Carolina pitcher Brittany Pickett in two games over the weekend. Pickett earned an 8-1 win over the Eagles on Friday.
The lone hit for the Eagles came off the bat of senior Lexi DiEmmanuele in the third inning.
The Tar Heels scored one run off two hits off BC starting pitcher CC Cook in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. North Carolina went up 2-0 in the second on two hits.
North Carolina broke the game open when Abby Settlemyer singled and two runs scored on an error to extend the lead, 4-0. Lexi Godwin singled to give the Tar Heels a 5-0.
Freshman Camryn Dolby replaced Cook on the mound and ran into trouble in the fourth inning. North Carolina's first two batters singled and with two on, Kiani Ramsey (3-for-3, 2 runs) crushed a home run to extend the lead, 8-0.
Junior pitcher Hannah Nommensen entered the game for the Tar Heels in the fifth inning. With two outs, Nommensen walked the next two batters. With two on and freshman Kennedy Labshere stepping to the place, UNC reentered Pickett on the mound. She got Labshere to ground out to secure series sweep for North Carolina.
