No. 1 Eagles Haul Past Dartmouth
February 27, 2019 | Lacrosse
Abbey Ngai recorded 12 saves in her first career start while Sam Apuzzo tallied eight goals in the win
NEWTON, Mass.– The No. 1 Boston College lacrosse team hauled past Dartmouth, 20-10, Wednesday afternoon in Newton. The Eagles were held up behind 12 saves from sophomore goalkeeper Abbey Ngai in her first career start, a season-high eight goals from senior captain Sam Apuzzo and seven points from graduate student captain Kenzie Kent. Three different Eagles recorded at least three goals on the day: Apuzzo (8), senior Taylor Walker (3) and junior Cara Urbank (3).Â
The Eagles were off to a hot start to the contest, headed by a three-minute hat trick from Apuzzo. The effort was enough to keep the Big Green at bay to end the half, 9-6, helped by two goals from Urbank and one each from Walker and senior captain Dempsey Arsenault. Dartmouth ended the opening frame on a 3-0 goal run, but couldn't find the momentum to push for the lead.
The Eagles combined for 10 goals over the second half while holding Dartmouth to just four. The game wrapped up with an 8-2 goal run for BC – six of which were assisted by Kent. Sophomore Jordan Lappin added two goals in the second half while classmate Maggie Casey and freshman Jenn Medjid each added one of their own.
