Men's Track and Field Is Ready for the ACC Indoor Championships
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's track and field team is set to compete this weekend at the ACC Indoor Championships in Blacksburg, Va. Thursday (Feb. 21) through Saturday (Feb. 23).
Many Eagles are looking to score top-eight in their events this weekend, and director and head coach Matt Kerr is confident the team will do just that. "We have opportunities to score in many events this year and will look to get on the board right out of the gates with the DMR Thursday night," said Kerr.
The relay team of Ben Davies, Marcus Manson, Matthew Morano, and Ian Ritchie will start things off for the Eagles on Thursday night in the DMR. The group earned a seed time of 9:51.39.
In the 800M, Matthew Morano and Russell Wells will look to score for BC. Morano earned a seed time of 1:51.23, while Wells earned a seed time of 1:51.67.
Senior Ian Ritchie will be competing in the mile for the Eagles. At the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 8, Ritchie set a PR in the event, finishing with a time of 4:06.56.
Sean Burke will be running the 3000M and 5000M this weekend. Burke set a PR in the 3000M on Feb. 8, finishing with a time of 8:10.36. His seed time in the 5000M is 14:14.65.
In the field, Avery Mckenzie and Michael Oduro will look to score in the triple jump. Mckenzie seeded fifth with a distance of 14.92M, while Oduro seeded 10th with a distance of 13.86M.
"We are excited to test ourselves at the ACC level and expect our team to rise to the challenge," said Kerr. "Championships are what we train hard for all season, and we're ready."
A tentative schedule of events is available online now, with live scoring provided by the ACC.
