Boston College Fencing Competes in the Annual Beanpot Fencing Meet on Wednesday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men and women's fencing teams are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the annual Beanpot meet.
In last years Beanpot, the women's team finished 2-1 overall, good enough for a second place finish. On the men's side, Connor Rounds (men's sabre) and Mateo Rueda (men's epee), both went 5-4.
The team will face Harvard, who is ranked no. 2 on the men's side, and no. 5 on the women's side, as well as local rivals Brandeis and MIT.
The men's team is led by senior Cameron Mayer in men's foil and freshmen Spencer Kuldell and Brolang Meng in men's sabre.
On the women's side, the Eagles are paced by freshmen Madison Lee (women's foil) and Laura Boden (women's epee), as well as sabre standouts Crystal Chen and Gabrielle Chau.
"We're a young team coming together at exactly the right time," said head coach Brendan Doris-Pierce. "Last weekend, at Duke, we stood toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the country and didn't give an inch. Wednesday will be a challenge for us, but I am excited by the commitment this team has to each other and how they rise to the occasion."
Competition begins at 6PM at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass.
