BC Tops Yale in First Round of NCAA Tournament

The Eagles topped the Bulldogs, 3-0, to advance to the second round on Sunday.
NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team scored three goals in the first half en route to a 3-0 win over Yale in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday night at the Newton Campus Fields. With the victory, the Eagles now travel to Washington for a Sunday, Nov. 24 second round fixture with the Huskies.
Kristofer Konradsson opened the scoring for the Eagles in the 16th minute. BC then scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the first half, with Michael Suski striking in the 39th minute before assisting on Stefan Sigurdarson's 43rd minute goal. Neither team found the back of the net in the second half, with Christian Garner making four saves for the Eagles in the final 45 minutes.
Garner finished with six saves for the Eagles in earning his fourth shutout of the season while Elian Haddock had four saves for the Bulldogs. Yale had the 4-2 lead in corner kicks while BC had the 13-12 lead in shots and a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.

- 16' | Suski switched the ball to the right flank and Konradsson collected it and went down the field. As he hit the box, he cut back to drop one defender and then took another touch to lose the other before hitting a left-footed shot inside the left post.
- 39' | After winning the ball on the left sideline, Tyshawn Rose cut in on the end line and as he hit the edge of the box, slotted a pass back to an open Suski. Suski took a touch before rifling a shot under the crossbar.
- 43' | Suski got the ball on the left side of the field and then dribbled into the box before a pass back to Sigurdarson at the six. Sigurdarson beat the defender and was able to poke the ball just inside the left post.
GAME NOTES
- Boston College now has an all-time record of 9-5-2 in the series with Yale … the Eagles are 5-2-2 at home against the Bulldogs.
- This is the 15th NCAA tournament appearance for the Eagles … BC is now 9-11-5 all-time in the NCAA tournament.
- With one goal and one assist in the match, Michael Suski tied a career-high with his three points.
- Tyshawn Rose earned his third assist of the season.
- Stefan Sigurdarson scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season … the freshman has a team-high 20 points on eight goals and four assists.
