Suski Scores Game-Winner in 2-1 Win over Syracuse

NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team defeated ACC foe Syracuse, 2-1, on Friday night at the Newton Soccer Field. Freshman Michael Suski scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute.
BC improved to 8-4-3 overall and 2-4-2 in the ACC. Syracuse dropped to 7-5-4 overall and 2-4-2 in the conference.
With the win. Boston College, the No. 9 seed in the ACC Tournament, will play at No. 8 Notre Dame on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The 10th seed Syracuse will travel to play No. 7 North Carolina on Wednesday at 4.
The Eagles were down 1-0 after Syracuse scored in the 33rd minute on a free kick from Ryan Raposo from 22 yards out. Boston College was handed a second blow when senior Joe Kellett was served a red card in the 41st minute.
Down a man, Boston College responded as freshman Amos Shapiro-Thompson scored off a beautiful set up from Stefan Sigurdarson in the 42nd minute and the game was tied at 1-1.
The play began when sophomore Kristofer Konradsson won a 50-50 ball at midfield and found Sigurdarson up field. The lanky forward held off a Syracuse defender as he sent a ball into the box for Shapiro-Thompson.
Despite being down a man, Boston College continued to press forward. The game evened out when Syracuse was served a red card as Nyal Higgins left the game in the 72nd minute.

- Sophomore goalkeeper Christian Garner had four saves in the win. He improved to 4-1-3 on the season.
- Junior David Longo, freshman Victor Souza and sophomore Tyshawn Rose, sophomore Jesus Sahagun, senior Lasse Lehmann and Sigurdarson all played the full 90 minutes Longo and Souza have played every minute in every game this season.
- Boston College and Syracuse had six shots each on goal, while the Orange had six corner kicks to four for the Eagles.
- Prior to the match the program honored seven seniors –Lasse Lehmann, Heidar Aegisson, Joe Kellett, Adam French, Callum Johnson, Ronaldinho Diniz and Rafael Salama.
- Boston College will travel to play Notre Dame on Tuesday in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The two teams will kick off at 2 p.m.
