UNH Fights Back to Beat Eagles 6-4 in Durham
January 12, 2019 | Men's Hockey
DURHAM, N.H. – Boston College led 2-0 after the first period and held a 4-3 advantage in the second, but New Hampshire scored the game's final three goals to beat the Eagles 6-4 on Saturday night at the Whittemore Center.
Ara Nazarian's one-timer from the left circle midway through the third period proved to be the game-winner, and Chris Miller sealed the UNH victory with an empty-netter in the final 30 seconds.
Christopher Brown and Oliver Wahlstrom each collected a goal and an assist in the first period as 10 different Eagles registered points on the night. New Hampshire native JD Dudek and Aapeli Räsänen netted the other BC goals.
The Wildcats (7-8-6, 3-5-3 HEA) battled back to tie the game at two within the first four minutes of a high scoring middle frame. Rasanen's one-timer at the top of the crease restored the lead, but Liam Blackburn buried a rebound shortly after.
Dudek's goal at the midway point of the contest put BC ahead once again, but it was shortlived as Patrick Grasso's second of the night came shorthanded to knot the score 4-4.
New Hampshire out-shot Boston College 36-25 and clinched the regular season series after earning a point in a 2-2 tie at Kelley Rink in November.
BC fell to 7-2-2 in Hockey East and 7-10-2 overall.
