The Eagles earned their first home victory over the Irish since 2000
BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College softball team defeated Notre Dame, 6-4, at the Harrington Athletics Village at Brighton Fields on Saturday afternoon, earning its first victory over the Irish at home since 2000. The Eagles were led by three hits each by senior Annie Murphy and junior Lexi DiEmmanuele.

Notre Dame struck first in the game in the second inning off of a home run by MK Bonamy. BC responded with three runs in the third off of a walk by junior Allyson Moore, a triple by classmate Lexi DiEmmanuele and three singles in a row off the bats of seniors Chloe Sharabba and Annie Murphy and freshman CC Cook. The Eagles carried a 6-3 lead into the seventh inning, but Notre Dame threatened by loading the bases with two outs, putting the game-winning run at the plate. One run scored on a hit by pitch, but senior Jessica Dreswick forced a ground out to third base to end the game with the Eagles up 6-4.

Redshirt junior Allyson Frei threw six innings for BC in the game, allowing only two earned runs, while striking out four batters. Dreswick entered the game in the seventh and did not allow a hit or a run to score.

How it Happened:
- Bonamy opened the scoring in the second inning when she hit a home run over the left field wall.
- Boston College responded in the third inning when Moore led off with a walk. Sophomore Olivia Markopoulos hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Moore to second. DiEmmanuele blasted a triple to center field, plating Moore. With the safety squeeze on, Sharabba reached base on a bunt single to the pitcher, allowing DiEmmanuele to score. Freshman CC Cook hit a single to left field, plating Sharabba and putting BC up 3-1.
- Bonamy led off the fourth inning with a single to right field. Two batters later, Alexis Bazos reached on a fielder's choice. Bonamy scored on a throwing error by junior Carly Severini at third base, also allowing Bazos to advance to third. Abby Sweet reached on a hit by pitch, putting runners on the corners for Notre Dame. Ali Wester singled through the right side, scoring Bazos and tying the score at three.
- BC re-took the lead in the bottom of the inning as Sellers hit a one-out single down the left field line. Moore followed suit with a single to left. Markopoulos laid down a sacrifice bunt that allowed both runners to advance to second and third. DiEmmanuele hit the ball back to the pitcher, who threw it over the head of the Irish first base-man, allowing Sellers and Moore to score and DiEmmanuele to advance to third. With two outs, Murphy singled to the shortstop, plating DiEmmanuele and putting the Eagles up 6-3.
- Notre Dame threatened in the seventh inning when it loaded the bases on a single by Morgan Reed, a hit by pitch by Madison Heide and a walk by Bazos. With two outs, Abby Sweet stepped up to the plate as the winning run. She reached on a hit by pitch, forcing home one run and pulling the Irish within two. With the bases still loaded, Dreswick forced Ali Wester to ground out to third, making the final score 6-4.
