March 06, 2018 | Softball
Jessica Dreswick recorded 10 strikeouts and Carly Severini picked up three RBIs
OXFORD, Miss. – The Boston College softball team defeated No. 18 Ole Miss, 8-2, on Tuesday night. The win marks the first victory over a ranked team since the Eagles defeated Arizona State on February 20, 2017.
Â
The Eagles (6-9) struck early when they took a 3-0 lead in the first inning off of three hits by the top of the lineup. BC would tack on two more runs in the third inning behind a triple by junior Lexi DiEmmanuele and it would add another insurance run in the following inning with the help of a sacrifice fly by junior Carly Severini. A triple by Severini in the sixth followed by a single by freshman Cami Sellers gave the Eagles an 8-0 lead. Though Ole Miss would score two in the bottom of the inning, it would not be enough as BC held on to secure the 8-2 win.

Severini extended her hitting streak to seven games as she led the team with two hits, including one triple, and three RBIs. Together, the Eagles collected 10 hits in the game.
