Dreswick Shuts Out Virginia to Earn 3-0 Victory

The Eagles complete the series sweep of the Cavaliers and improve to 3-3 in the ACC
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Boston College softball team completed the series sweep of Virginia with a 3-0 victory over the Cavaliers on Saturday to improve to 3-3 in the conference. Senior Jessica Dreswick shut-out the Virginia lineup, holding the batters to only three hits and two walks while striking out three in her seven innings pitched.

The Maroon and Gold jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when senior Chloe Sharabba led off the game with a double. She advanced one base on a sacrifice bunt by junior Lexi DiEmmanuele and scored on a throwing error. A single by senior Annie Murphy plated DiEmmanuele and put the Eagles up 2-0. BC tacked on an insurance run in the third when Murphy notched her second RBI of the game to score DiEmmanuele. Dreswick held the Cavaliers scoreless throughout to secure the win.

Dreswick has now thrown nine complete games this season. She also holds third place in the BC record books with nine career shutouts.

The Eagles return to action when they play Boston University on Wednesday, March 28 at 4 p.m.

- With her team-leading two hits on the day, freshman CC Cook finished the weekend batting a perfect seven-for-seven from the plate.
- With one double on the day, senior Jordan Chimento now has two multi-hit games this season.

Murphy singled to left center to drive home DiEmmanuele and put BC up 2-0.
- The Eagles added to their lead in the third inning when DiEmmanuele started things off with a single up the middle. She stole second and advanced to third on a ground out. A single to the shortstop by Cook scored DiEmmanuele and extend BC's lead to 3-0.
- Olivia Gott doubled to right center in the fourth inning to put a runner in scoring position, but the Cavaliers were unable to score.
