Men's Track & Field Debuts at BU Season Opener

BOSTON – The BC men's track & field team opened the indoor season on Saturday with a short trip down Comm Ave for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Boston University Season Opener.
Avery Mckenzie registered a distance of 14.92 meters in the triple jump, which ranks fifth all-time in program history and qualified him for the ACC and IC4A meets.
On the track, Ben Davies won the 800-meter run by nearly two seconds for the Eagles in a time of 1:54.21, an IC4A mark by 0.3 seconds. Ben Osipow earned fifth place with a time of 1:57.20 while Ian Ritchie took 10th in 1:59.99.
The Eagles placed four runners in the top-10 of the 1000-meter as Russell Wells finished third in 2:27.49 for an IC4A qualifying time. Michael Hains (2:28.73) and Erik Linden (2:28.80) were sixth and seventh, while Colin Trigani (2:29.96) came across the line in ninth.
Three runners were among the top-8 in the mile, led by Ian Ritchie in fourth with his time of 4:14.64. Osipow was seventh in 4:18.44, followed a half-second later by Andrew Willis in eighth (4:18.92).
Marcus Manson finished fourth in the 600-meter with a time of 1:23.38. Manson (35.11) and Khalfani Green (35.32) were 13th and 14th in the 300-meter.
Later in the meet, BC's 4x400 relay team of Herrerias, Bethell, Morano, and Wells posted a time of 3:20.81 for fifth overall.
Boston College returns from winter break on Saturday, Jan. 12 for the Beantown Challenge, hosted by Harvard.
