BC to host St. Peter's in Coach Mac's Home Opener on Sunday at 4

The Boston College women's basketball team succeeded on step one with a win on opening night at URI on Thursday. The next step is to win the first home game of the season, as the Eagles will host Saint Peter's at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Conte Forum.

BC defeated URI on the road, 88-64, to open the season on Thursday, Nov. 8. Freshman Marnelle Garraud led the Eagles with 19 points and four steals, while junior Taylor Ortlepp tallied 15 points. Junior Emma Guy had a team-high 10 rebounds and nine points, and freshman guard Makayla Dickens pitched in with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

At the half, Boston College led 49-23, and shot 46 percent in the half and a sizzling 61 percent in the second quarter.

- With the win on Thursday night at URI, BC is now 28-14 in season openers.
- BC is 28-13 in home openers.
- The Eagles hit 13 three-pointers and shot 40 percent from the arc on Thursday night. Taylor Ortlepp hit five three-pointers for the fourth time in her career. She has hit five or more seven times. Â Ortlepp's best if seven, which she tallied twice, once at Syracuse (2.25.18) and vs. North Carolina at the 2018 ACC tournament.
