The field hockey team heads to Cambridge for final road game of regular season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team is set for their final away game of the regular season as they head to No. 6 Harvard on Thursday for a 6 p.m. contest. The Eagles hold a 22-12-1 advantage in the all-time series which dates back to 1979.
The Eagles faced back-to-back 2-1 losses over their final full travel weekend, falling to both Duke and Liberty. Senior captain Lucy Lytle recorded each of the goals for Boston College while freshman goalkeeper Jonna Kennedy played the entirety of both games, aside from the 50 seconds of empty-net action that the Eagles led in the final moments against Liberty. The Eagles have been on the short side of the result for the four of their last six contests.
A regular non-conference opponent, the Crimson sits at sixth in the country with a 13-1 overall record on the season. Their lone loss came in a 3-1 decision from No. 2 Maryland in September. Freshman goalkeeper Ellie Shahbo boasts a 0.75 goals-against average over her 7-1 record, while senior Libby Manela has a 5-0 record and two shutouts. Offensively, junior Maddie Earle leads with 12 goals on the season while classmate Bente van Vlijmen follows closely behind with 11.
Following the match up with the Crimson, the Eagles host their final regular season game on Sunday at 1 p.m. when cross-town rival Boston University comes to Newton for the Eagles' Senior Day.
