Eagles Suffer Setback in Final Road Game of Regular Season at Harvard
October 25, 2018 | Field Hockey
The Harvard Crimson blanked the Eagles in a Thursday night contest
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team suffered their third consecutive setback, 1-0, at No. 6 Harvard, Thursday night to cap off their road trips for the regular season.
The Crimson pulled the first opportunity of the night and the Eagles followed back with four of their own, but the respective defenses stood through to show a 0-0 score as time expired in the opening stanza. With few seconds remaining, the Crimson grabbed a corner opportunity and capitalized on the first shot, earning an untimed goal to hold a 1-0 lead over BC to head into halftime.
The halftime goal was the eventual decision, as neither team capitalized on corner opportunities or produced any shot attempts throughout the second half. The Eagles took a time out with 1:19 remaining in regulation, but could not push through the final seconds of the contest to come out on top.
The 1-0 final score marks just the second time all season that the Eagles have been blanked by their opponent. The only other time was during the 1-0 loss at Louisville, where the lone goal was also scored during a time-expired corner shot.
