October 27, 2018 | Field Hockey
Cross-town rival BU will be in Newton for Senior Day
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team is set to wrap up their regular season with a home game on Sunday at 1 p.m. against cross-town rival No. 24 Boston University. The final game at the Newton Field Hockey Complex of the year will feature a ceremony honoring the seven graduating members of the BC field hockey team: Brooke Matherson, Elizabeth Dennehy, Carly Kauffman, Alyssa Olenick, Ymke Rose Gote, Lucy Lytle and Frederique Haverhals.
The Eagles are coming off of a tough loss at No. 6 Harvard, where they played their final regular season away game on Thursday in Cambridge. The Crimson took the lead with a time-expired corner shot goal heading into halftime. The corner goal would be the eventual decision as the final score was 1-0 Harvard. The Eagles currently sit with a 9-8 overall record while the Terriers hold a 10-6.
The rival Boston team is coming off of a 2-1 win against Holy Cross. Kara Enoch and Ally Hammel were responsible for the Terrier's two goals in the win. Alisa Connolly leads the team with eight goals on the season. Goalkeeper Kathleen Keegan has started all of BU's 16 games this season, garnering a 1.78 goals against average.
Prior to the start of Sunday afternoon's contest, Boston College will recognize the seven senior team members in a Senior Day ceremony to honor their extensive contributions to the Eagles over their careers. As the regular season concludes, the Eagles are set to face No. 20 Virginia in the first round of the ACC Tournament in Chapel Hill, N.C. on November 1.
