Eagles Lose to Miami, 65-43

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Despite 16 points from sophomore Georgia Pineau and 11 from freshman Milan Bolden-Morris, Boston College fell to Miami, 65-43, at Conte Forum on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles were trailing by only nine points entering the second quarter but three shots from behind the arc for Miami helped the Hurricanes pull ahead to a twenty point lead as BC entered the locker room trailing 40-20 at the half. Miami held BC to just eight points in the third quarter to maintain a strong lead. A 10-4 run by the Eagles to close out the game was not enough to catch the Hurricanes as the Eagles fell, 65-43.

BC allowed 20 turnovers in the game and shot 33 percent from the floor while the Hurricanes allowed 12 turnovers and shot 39 percent to improve to 4-3 in the conference and 27-17 all-time against the Eagles.

- Pineau surpassed the 400-point mark in her career when she hit a jumper with 6:07 left to play in the first half. She led the team with 16 points and also grabbed eight rebounds on the day.
- Bolden-Morris scored in the double-digits for the 15th time this season as she scored 11 points, including two three-pointers.
- Sophomore Emma Guy had eight boards on the day, marking the seventh time this year that she has recorded at least eight rebounds in a game.
How It Happened
- Miami closed out the first quarter on an 8-2 run behind two shots from behind the arc by Sarah Mortensen. Guy chipped in with four points as the Hurricanes outshot the Eagles 19-10 in the quarter.
- The Hurricanes opened the second quarter on a 9-5 run powered by a layup from Kelsey Marshall and a jumper from Taylor Mason. Bolden-Morris hit her first three of the day with 7:25 left to play in the half to pull BC within eight. Miami would hit two more three-pointers in the rest of the quarter to increase their lead to double digits. Pineau scored six points but the Eagles entered the locker room trailing, 40-20.
- The Hurricanes opened the third quarter on a 9-4 run to make the score 48-24 with 4:22 left to play in the third. BC allowed four turnover in five minutes and only scored eight points in the quarter as Miami maintained a 54-31 lead.
- Miami would hold a commanding lead in the fourth quarter as Erykah Davenport added three points and Shaneese Bailey scored four. BC would go on a 10-4 run to close out the game behind three-pointers from Bolden-Morris and freshman Sydney Lowery but the Eagles were unable to catch Miami as they fell, 65-43.
- Boston College will return to action when they travel to Durham, N.C. on Thursday, Jan. 25 to take on Duke at 7 p.m.
