Eagles Run Away from La Salle, 82-61, in Hall of Fame Tipoff Tourney

How It Happened:
Boston College shot 56% from the floor in the second half to pull away for an 82-61 win in the third-place game of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament on Sunday at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
It was a back-and-forth affair in the first half, as neither team gained more than a four-point advantage through the first 15 minutes of play. Trailing 22-20, the Eagles scored the final 10 points of the half, holding La Salle to just 1-of-14 shooting from the floor. Ky Bowman's 35-footer at the buzzer gave BC a 30-22 lead at the break.
BC extended its lead to double digits after a Jerome Robinson layup with 15:43 to go made it 38-27. La Salle would respond with a 7-2 push over the next 2:30 before Robinson began a scoring surge, tallying 12 of BC's next 20 points to make it 63-49 with 5:49 to go. A late jumper from Avery Wilson made it a 21-point lead - the final margin of victory.

- For the second straight game, all five BC starters reached double figures. The Eagles were led by Jerome Robinson's season-high 25 points. The junior guard scored 21 in the second half, knocking down 8-of-14 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
- Nic Popovic added a career-best 18 points, connecting on 8-of-12 from the field and both free throw attempts. The 6-10 sophomore added seven boards, an assist, and a blocked shot in 25 minutes.
- Ky Bowman recorded 13 points, six boards, seven assists (two turnovers), and two steals in 36 minutes. He was named to the Naismith Bracket All-Tournament team. Over the two games at Mohegan Sun Arena, Bowman averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.0 steals while posting a 2.20:1 assist/turnover ratio.
- Deontae Hawkins registered his second double-double of the season - and his third game with double figure rebounds - tallying 10 points and a game-high 11 boards.
- Jordan Chatman scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds. He has reached double figures in four of the five games in 2017-18.
- The Eagles connected on 48.4% (31-64) from the floor and 8-of-23 from beyond the arc for the game. They out rebounded La Salle, 48-30, including a 15-8 advantage on the offensive glass. The BC defensive effort locked up the Explorers, holding them to more than 10 points below their season scoring average (72.8 ppg).
- With the win, BC moves to 4-1 - the best start for the program since the 2007-08 campaign. That season, the Eagles started off 5-0.
- Ky Bowman has made at least one 3-pointer in each of his last 21 games played.
- There were two ties and four lead changes in the game.
- Today's game marked the third time Boston College has scored 80 or more points.
