Eagles Claim 77-69 Win Over Notre Dame on Senior Day

Fred Payne logs 24 points and five steals, a career-high
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College played in its final 2025-26 regular season game Saturday afternoon, earning a 77-69 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish . Fred Payne was one of four Eagles to reach double-digit figures, scoring a game-high 24 points.

- Chase Forte used a half-court steal and transition dunk to open the scoring. Aidan Shaw followed with an alley-oop dunk to help the Eagles grab a 6-5 lead.
- BC extended the lead with a five-point Fred Payne scoring run, highlighted by a long-range three-pointer.
- Both sides traded the lead midway through the half before the Fighting Irish recorded an 11-2 run to take a 30-21 lead.
- The Eagles connected on nine straight free throws to cut the deficit down to one possession in the dying minutes.
- Notre Dame took a 33-30 lead going into halftime.
- Notre Dame scored eight points out of the half to push its advantage to nine in the opening minutes of the second half.
- BC responded quickly, though, as Payne knocked down a triple and alley-oop from Forte during a 9-0 scoring run to level the contest at 41-41.
- Payne then grabbed the first lead for BC since the beginning of the first half with a deep three, making it 55-53. The advantage extended to eight with another Payne basket and a pair of free throws from Shaw and Forte.
- The Fighting Irish attempted a comeback in the final minutes, but BC held on for a 77-69 decision.
- Fred Payne scored a game-high 24 points, the ninth time this season he has surpassed 20+ points. He added a career-high five steals and led all Eagles with nine rebounds.
- Chase Forte (14), Jayden Hastings (12), and Boden Kapke (11) all contributed double-digit performances.
- The Eagles made 31 free throws as a team, the first time they have done so since 2014 against Wake Forest.
- Boston College finishes at 4-14 in ACC play and 11-20 in the regular season.
- The Eagles' all-time series record against Notre Dame is now 31-17.
- Boston College awaits the result of the Pittsburgh-Syracuse game. A Pitt loss would give the Eagles the No. 15 seed in the ACC Tournament.
