Dominant Second-Half Surge Paces Eagles Past Colgate

A 30-4 second half run helps move BC to 4-0 at home
How It Happened:
Colgate knocked down eight 3-pointers in the first half, en route to taking a 41-27 lead at the break. After Ky Bowman made the first basket of the game for BC, the Raiders went on a 13-0 run over the next 4:30, opening up an 11-point advantage. The Eagles would counter with 12 unanswered points, capped by a traditional 3-point play by Jordan Chatman, taking a 14-13 lead with 9:07 left in the half.
But an 18-3 run by Colgate - including four 3-pointers and three made FT - made it a 14-point deficit for Boston College (38-24) with under a minute to go. The Raiders would maintain their 14-point edge at the break. The Raiders connected on eight first-half 3-pointers.
The Raiders hit two trifectas to start the second half, taking a 17-point lead - 47-33 - with 17:45 to go. Trailing by 15 with 15:15 to play, the Eagles offense kickstarted with a 19-2 push over the next 7:10, capped by two Deontae Hawkins free throws, taking a 55-53 lead with 8:05 remaining. It was BC's first lead since 7:17 left in the first half. Jerome Robinson scored 11 of the 19 points during the run, including three 3-pointers.
BC extended the run to 30-4, spanning 8:45. Ky Bowman would make two free throws with 4:38 to play, giving the Eagles a 66-55 advantage. Colgate would chip away at the lead down the stretch, getting as close as three points twice with less than 30 second to play. BC iced the victory making 11-of-13 from the charity stripe over the last minute of regulation.

- Four Eagles reached double figures on the night, led by Jerome Robinson. The Raleigh, N.C. led the squad in scoring for the second straight game, with a season-best 26 points. Nineteen of the junior guard's points game in the second half. Â
- Robinson made 9-of-13 shots from the floor - including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc - to go with four assists, two boards, two steals and a blocked shot.
- Ky Bowman registered season-highs with 19 points, eight assists, and two blocks to go along with six boards and two steals. The sophomore was 7-of-12 from inside the arc on the afternoon.
- Jordan Chatman also tallied a season-high in the scoring column, with 17 points. The junior made 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 6-of-7 from the foul line.
- Deontae Hawkins posted his second straight double-double - and third of the season - with 16 points and 11 boards. It is the fourth double-digit rebounding performance by the grad transfer through the first six games.
- Steffon Mitchell equalled Hawkins' effort on the boards, corralling a season-best 11 boards - including five on the offensive end. The freshman added five points - including a key 3-pointer during the Eagles' second half comeback run. He also dished out two assists.
- The Eagles shot 45.5% from the floor for the game (25-55) - including 56.0% in the second half (14-25). They outrebounded the Raiders, 41-38.
- BC's 11 3-pointers were the second-most makes from long range this season.
- The Eagles went to the free throw line a season-high 30 times, connecting on 22 (73.3%).
- Jerome Robinson needs 42 more points to reach 1,000 for his career.
- Ky Bowman dished out eight assists to just one turnover, pushing his assist/turnover ratio for the season to 3.50:1 (35 a/10 t)
