EAGLES FACE ORANGE FRIDAY NIGHT
• #15 Boston College faces its first ACC road test of the season on Friday night at #5 Syracuse.
• The Eagles (4-1-0) have won four of their first five matches, including a 1-0 ACC opening win against Duke last weekend.
• Syracuse has opened the season with six wins and four shutouts. The Orange beat NC State on the road last weekend, 2-0.
• Boston College owns a 16-11-1 record in the all-time series and won in the regular season last year, 2-1.
• Syracuse won the rematch in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, 1-0, to earn its first-ever bid to the College Cup.
ENSTROM SCORES IN 1-0 WIN AGAINST DUKE
• Sophomore Simon Enstrom scored the match's only goal in the 51st minute to lead Boston College to a 1-0 win against Duke last Saturday in the ACC opener.
• It was his third goal in the last four matches.
• Sophomore Cedric Saladin made five saves in goal to record his third shutout of the season.
• Duke had the first chance of the match just three minutes after the opening whistle. Brandon Williamson found Brian White in the box and his shot was touched by a leaping Saladin. The ball then hit the crossbar and stayed out.
• Senior Maximilian Schulze-Geisthovel had a couple of quality chances in the first half to score his fifth goal of the season, but a header and a rebound he tried to put back both missed the mark.
• The Eagles found the back of the net in the 51st minute when senior Zeiko Lewis stripped the ball from a Blue Devil in the defensive end. He passed to Enstrom who dribbled the length of the field. His blast nicked the defender in front of him and beat the keeper to put BC on top.
• Enstrom hit the post in the 82nd minute and then Duke pressed for the equalizer down the stretch but couldn't find it. The Blue Devils had four shots and five corner kicks in the last 15 minutes.
LAST TIME vs. SYRACUSE
• After a scoreless first half, the Orange converted on a corner kick in the 79th minute for the go-ahead goal and held on to punch its ticket to the program's first-ever College Cup on December 5, 2015 at the SU Soccer Stadium.
• SU's Louis Cross got on the end of a corner kick service in the 21st minute, but his flicked-down header was just wide of the Eagles' goal.
• Syracuse collected five-straight corners as Alex Kapp three different times cleared the ball out of danger while Atobra Ampadu cleared off the line, and BC kept the Orange off the board amid heavy pressure in the 68th minute.
• On their 13th corner of the game, Ben Polk rose above the Eagles' backline and headed in Liam Callahan's service on the back post for the 1-0 lead in the 79th minute.
