CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team, coming off of its second-ever appearance in the Elite Eight, will open the 2016 campaign with a pair of matches this weekend.
The Eagles open the season on the road at Quinnipiac on Friday for a 4 p.m. tilt with the Bobcats. BC will then host local rival Boston University on Sunday at 5 p.m. in Newton.
Boston College is coming off of one of its most successful seasons in program history in 2015, advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for just the second time. The Eagles were one game short of their first appearance in the College Cup and finished the season ranked as high as No. 8 in the country.
This year, the Eagles start the season ranked as high as No. 8 by College Soccer News. BC returns its top three scorers from a year ago and six of its top seven. Sophomore Simon Enstrom (9 goals-4 assists-22 points) was the team's offensive leader, followed by senior Zeiko Lewis (5-8-18) and sophomore Trevor Davock (6-5-17).
Lewis earned All-ACC Second Team honors for the third time last year and was also named to the NSCAA All-South Region First Team. The Pembroke, Bermuda, product was named to the 2016 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List this preseason. Junior Len Zuegner, the anchor of the BC defense, was named to the All-ACC Third Team while Enstrom earned All-Freshmen Team honors.
Â
Head Coach Ed Kelly also brought in 12 newcomers that look to make an immediate impact in Chestnut Hill.

Following Friday night's opener at Quinnipiac, the Eagles will have four consecutive home matches against Boston University (Aug. 28/5 p.m.), Hofstra (Sep. 2/4 p.m.), Villanova (Sep. 4/5 p.m.) and Duke (Sep. 10/6 p.m.).
