BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Tatiana Cortez was 1-of-3 with a three-run home run. It was her second homer of the season.
- Freshman Carly Severini picked up a hit and has now recorded a hit in four of the last five games. She was 1-of-2 with a run scored.
TURNING POINT
- Cortez gave Boston College the lead for good with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Leathernecks opened the scoring in the top of the second with a Sidney Botti groundout to second that scored Payton Abbot from third.
- The Eagles evened things up in the bottom of the third when freshman Loren DiEmmanuele reached on a fielder's choice. Carly Severini would score on the play.
- Boston College broke the game wide open when Cortez smacked the ball over the fence in left center with two runners on base, giving the Eagles a 4-1 edge.
- Western Illinois would capitalize on a couple Boston College errors, plating two in the fifth. Aly Compton scored the first off a fielding error while Kelsey Marlo singled home the second.
- Boston College would add an insurance run in the bottom half of the inning with junior Madison Paulson getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring freshman Danielle Thomas.
