BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior left-handed starter Jesse Adams allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out five over six scoreless innings.
- Sophomore Donovan Casey went 2-for-4 with a double and a run, extending his career-long hit streak to eight games.
- Senior Logan Hoggarth kept his career-long, nine-game hit streak alive from the 2015 season with a 1-for-2 day.
- Sophomore Jake Palomaki and senior Joe Cronin led the way with two RBIs apiece for the Eagles.
KEY PLAY
- The Eagles scored one in the second on Cronin's RBI double and didn't look back, adding two in the fifth and two in the eighth.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles struck first for the second consecutive game, tallying a run in the second. Casey double down the first-base line and Cronin drove him with a double to left.
- BC added two more with two down in the fifth. Freshman Gian Martellini led off with a walk and junior Nick Sciortino knocked a one-out double to right center. After a grounder to first, Palomaki drove in both BC runners with a single to center.
- The Eagles made it a 5-0 game in the eighth. Junior Michael Strem reached on a throwing error by shortstop Brian Sisler and moved around to third on single up the middle by Casey. Cronin plated Strem on a grounder to short. Martellini was hit by a pitch before sophomore Mitch Bigras drove in the fifth run with a double to center.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman righty John Witkowski saw his first collegiate work, pitching the seventh. He struck out the side, allowing a double.
- Right-handers senior John Nicklas and junior Justin Dunn finished off the shutout victory, throwing the eighth and ninth, respectively. Nicklas gave up a walk and struck out one and Dunn tallied two Ks with one double.
- Junior Chris Balogh saw his first action in a BC uniform, pinch hitting in the seventh. He grounded out, but moved the runner over to third.
