
Eagles Face No. 21 Albany In NCAA Second Round

BC travels west for Sunday 1 p.m. match
EAGLES FACE #21 ALBANY IN NCAA SECOND ROUND
• Boston College will travel west to #21 Albany to take on the Great Danes on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Championship.
• The Eagles (9-8-3) received an at-large bid to the tournament for the second-straight season after reaching the semifinals of the ACC Championship. They beat Fordham at home on Thursday night, 1-0.
• Albany (12-5-2) earned a #14 seed in the tournament and a first round bye. The Great Danes won the America East conference with wins over Vermont and Hartford.
• BC and Albany met earlier this season with the Eagles taking a 5-3 win at home on September 20.
LEWIS IN THE POSTSEASON
• Senior Zeiko Lewis has scored all four Boston College goals in four matches this postseason. He had three goals in three ACC Championship matches and scored the game-winner against Fordham on Thursday.
• Both of his goals in the 2-2 tie against #23 Virginia Tech were equalizers as the Eagles played from behind.
• Lewis got his first strike in the 56th minute when senior Isaac Normesinu went on a break from the defensive end. He sent a nice through ball to Lewis who finished it to tie the match.
• A minute after the Hokies took a 2-1 lead in the 85th minute, sophomore Simon Enstrom handled the ball on the right baseline. He found Lewis who was open in the box and he found the left side netting to tie it again.
• Lewis also connected on his penalty kick as the Eagles won the shootout, 4-3.
• The Pembroke, Bermuda product then notched the lone goal at #4 North Carolina in the 58th minute.
• Lewis earned Player of the Week honors from TopDrawerSoccer and was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
• Lewis had scored three goals in 16 regular season matches and had not scored a goal since September 30.
LEWIS STRIKES AGAIN IN 1-0 WIN AGAINST FORDHAM
• Senior Zeiko Lewis scored his fourth goal in this postseason in the 82nd minute for the lone goal of the match in the 1-0 win against Fordham in the first round of the NCAA Championship.
• Sophomore Simon Enstrom provided the assist on the game-winner.
• Sophomore Cedric Saladin made two saves in goal for his seventh shutout of the season.
• The Eagles held an 18-7 advantage in shots, including an 8-1 difference in the first half.
• Boston College controlled the pace for the entirety of the first half but couldn't find the net.
• Five of those shots were on target, but Fordham keeper Rashid Nuhu made four saves in the first 11 minutes to keep BC at bay. He had 10 total in the match.
• Enstrom saw his first action at the start of the second half and made an immediate impact. The Eagles had their best chance of the night 1:03 after the whistle when he took a shot from the right side, but it was saved.
• Freshman Lasse Lehmann and Enstrom had a couple of more shots on target but were also turned away.
• Fordham nearly scored with 12 minutes left when Bart Dziedzic found himself open in front of Saladin. He took a shot, but Saladin got low and made the save.
• Lewis finally struck for the Eagles in the 82nd minute to give BC the 1-0 lead.
• The Rams almost equalized it 46 seconds later after a corner kick, as a scramble in the box got to Eric Ohlendorf. He fired a shot, but junior Mohammed Moro was on the line and made the save to preserve the lead.
