Boston College could not solve Albany's defense as the Great Danes shutout the Eagles, 3-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Bob Ford Field on Sunday afternoon

TURNING POINT
Albany's Bernardo Mattos scored on Albany's first corner kick attempt at 11:08 and never relinquished the lead. Nico Solabarrieta scored just over 15 minutes later to hold a 2-0 lead at half time.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lewis offered the first chance of the game with a burst of speed down the right side, but he ran out of room before his attempt had a decent chance on Albany goalkeeper Danny Vitiello.
- Boston College had back-to-back corner kicks in the ninth minute but both attempts were cleared out by Albany.
- The Great Danes struck first on their first corner kick attempt at the 11:08 mark. Moosah Khanat sent the corner kick into the box and Bernardo Mattos duped his defender and deflected the cross with the header past Saladin for the 1-0 lead.
- Albany doubled its lead in the first half at the 27:34 mark on a breakaway. Afonso Pinheiro threaded the needle with a pass through the Eagles' backfield and Nico Solabarrieta managed to stay onside, accepted the pass and went in alone on Saladin. Solabarrieta lifted his shot over Saladin, who charged in and attempted to cut off the angle, but Solabarrieta's shot was too quick for the 2-0 lead.
- Johnson put a hard offer onto Vitiello from about 25 yards with under two minutes to play in the first half but it sailed through the box to keep the score 2-0 through the first half.
- Sophomore Simon Enstrom looked to break up Albany's shutout early in the second half with a rocket from the 18-yard line in the 50th minute but Vitiello stood his ground and punched it away out of bounds.
- Pinheiro offered two great chances to increase Albany's advantage, but Saladin charged out of the box twice and swatted it away. Pinheiro finally cashed in on his third attempt in the second half at 82:25 for the 3-0 lead. Solabarrieta returned the favor on his goal by assisting in similar fashion as Pinheiro held the line and broke past BC's defense to lift it over Saladin's head.
