Eagles Strike Twice in Second Half to Defeat Orange

The win over Syracuse is the Eagles' first since 2021, and their first ACC home opener win since 2018
NEWTON, Mass. – Boston College men's soccer team shut out Syracuse, 2-0, in their ACC home opener on Saturday evening at the Newton Soccer Complex.
Michael Asare and Russell Brown each netted their third goals of the season. Asare matched his career high in goals, while Brown set a new career high. Moritz Gundelach recorded his first career assist on the Brown goal. Andrej Borak stopped all five shots that he faced for his second shutout of the year.
Asare gave the Eagles the lead in the 53rd minute when he scored unassisted after he slotted home a bouncing ball.
Brown doubled the lead in the 66th minute when he knocked in a layoff from Gundelach.
The two teams were evenly matched, despite the Orange holding the advantage in corners (6-5) and shots on goal (6-3).
Boston College is back in action on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. when they host New Haven in a non-conference matchup. The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
