BOSTON, Mass.- On Saturday, November 12, the Eagles crew raced on their home course for the final race of the fall season, the Foot of the Charles. In three events against Dartmouth, University of Rhode Island and Boston rivals: Radcliffe, Northeastern, Boston University, and MIT, the Eagles were successful in finishing in the top five in each race.Â
Â
The morning kicked off with an exciting Varsity Eight event. The "A" crew led by senior coxswain Anna Tenzinger started slow but made up ground making a decisive move around the half-way point to pull ahead of Boston University and finished in fourth with a time of 21:23.5.
Â
As for the other two boats competing in the race, the Eagles "C" and "B" Varsity Eights finished in 15th and 16th respectively out of the 21 boat field.
Â
In the Freshmen Eight, the Eagles "A" finished in second place behind Northeastern with a time of 13:52.0. The BC "B" boat finished in sixth posting a time of 14:38.0, the fastest of all "B" boats competing in the race.
Â
In the Open Four Event, junior coxswain Amanda Bakke led the Eagles to a third place finish, posting their best time of the year at 17:05.0.
Â
Head Coach Steve Fiske said, "All six boats raced well in our final race of the fall season. In particular the Varsity 8 showed resilience and toughness coming from behind in the second half of the race."
Â
After competing in their final race in the fall, Eagles will take a break for the winter and will return to the river in March.
