HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs got on the board first, scoring a run in the first. Jordan Mountford singled, stole second and, after Stone issued a walk, moved to third on a grounder. Robby Rinn hit a sacrifice fly to center to plate Mountford for the first run of the game. Stone forced a chopper to short to end the inning.
- The Eagles came right back to score five in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. They loaded the bases on two walks and single. Sophomore Michael Strem drew a walk to bring in a run and tie the game. That chased starter Jack Patterson from the game, bringing in RHP James Davitt. With one down, Hoggarth knocked a base hit through the right side, plating the go-ahead run. Sauter followed with a double to left, scoring two more Eagles and Casey grounded one to second to plate the fifth BC run.
- The Eagles added a run in the second as Palomaki led off with a walk and landed on second after a misplay by second baseman Cole Fabio. A grounder moved him to third and Strem plated him with a single to right.
- Bryant made it a one-run game, scoring two in the fourth and two in the fifth. With one down in the fourth, the Bulldogs put runners on second and third on a single, walk and two wild pitches. AJ Zarozny singled to left to score both runs. Stone came back with a strikeout and groundout to end the inning.
- In the fifth, Mountford led off with a solo home run. With one down, Matt Albanese singled and the Eagles went to the pen for redshirt junior LHP Tyler Hinchliffe. A grounder moved Albanese to third and John Mullen brought him home with a doubled to left. Hinchliffe got out of the inning with a grounder.
- BC scored two in the fifth off RHP Ross Weiner to extend the lead to three. With one down, Casey reached first on a bunt single and moved to second on a wild pitch. After a strikeout, Palomaki walked and both runners stole bases to move in second and third. Adams chopped a slow one to short and beat the throw, allowing both runners came home, as Palomaki hustled from second.
- The Eagles tacked on a run in the seventh as Hoggarth and Casey started the inning with back-to-back hits. Junior Gabriel Hernandez moved them into scoring position with a sac bunt. LHP Logan Lessard came in to face Palomaki, who laced one back at the pitcher. Fabio was able to throw the Eagle out, but Hoggarth crossed the plate to make it 9-5.
- Sauter plated the final BC runs in the eighth facing RHP Michael Marshall. With two outs, freshman Scott Braren landed on second on a two-base error by Fabio. Hoggarth followed with a single through the left side, advancing Braren to third. Hoggarth stole second and Sauter scored both of his teammates with a single to center.
