CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 22 Boston College Baseball (22-10, 9-5 ACC) fell to No. 6 North Carolina (26-5-1, 10-4 ACC) in the second of three games this weekend, 5-2.

Tyler Mudd started for the Eagles and went four innings, giving up three earned runs while striking out four. John D Mitchell and Luke D'Ancona combined to pitch the fifth and sixth innings, giving up an earned run without a strikeout. Chase Hartsell and John Kwiatkowski closed out the game, giving up an earned run while striking out four.

The Tar Heels struck first in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to left field. They would make it a three-run lead in the bottom of the second with a triple down the right-field line, which scored two.

Boston College got its first run of the game in the top of the third. Colin Larson and Julio Solier would both earn two-out walks and would move to second and third on wild pitches by the Carolina starter. Larson came into score one pitch later on another wild pitch.

The Tar Heels added a fourth run in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly to center field after North Carolina put runners on second and third.

In the top of the seventh, Carter Hendrickson would lead off with a walk and was moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Luke Gallo and a groundout by Danny Surowiec. Gunnar Johnson brought in Hendrickson to make it 4-2 with a single to left field.

Carolina got their fifth run of the game in the bottom of the seventh with a double down the left field line after the Tar Heels put runners on first and second.
