BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Blake Butera knocked in the winning run in the eighth, going 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and run for the day.
- Junior Stephen Sauter tied the game in the seventh with a two-run home run, his first of the season and second his career.
- Junior Logan Hoggarth led the way for the Eagles with a 3-for-4 day, tying a career high for hit.
- Sophomore Nick Sciortino had a stellar day behind the plate. He caught a runner stealing, picked one off and ended the inning by gunning one down on a ball in the dirt.
- Freshman Jake Palomaki doubled, walked and drove a run in, extending his on-base streak to 16 games.
- Sophomore Michael Strem doubled in the seventh, bringing his doubles total to 14, which leads the ACC. He has reached base safely in the last 17 games.
- Junior LHP Jesse Adams picked up his first save of the season, striking out the side in the ninth with the bases loaded. He now has three career saves.
KEY PLAYS
- With the Eagles down two in the seventh, Strem double and with two outs, Sauter launched one over the right-field wall to tie the game.
- Sophomore RHP Justin Dunn surrendered back-to-back, two-outs hits in the eighth, but came back to end the inning with a fly ball keep the game knotted at seven. In the bottom of the eighth, sophomore Johnny Adams notched an infield single and stolen second with two down to move into scoring position. Butera came through with a single to left to give BC the lead.
- Adams entered the game with one on in the ninth and walked the first two batters he faced to load the bases with no outs, but he retired the side on strikeouts to end the game and give BC the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BC was the first to strike, scoring two in the second. With two down, Sauter and Hoggarth singled and junior Gabriel Hernandez followed with a double to right center to drive both in.
- The Tigers cut the lead in the third as Glenn Batson singled, moved up on a base hit and scored on a two-out single to right by Tyler Krieger.
- The Eagles made it a 4-1 game in the bottom of the inning. Palomaki led off with a double and Butera knocked him in with a two-bagger of his own. Junior Joe Cronin plated Butera with a single to left center.
- Chris Okey made it a 4-2 game with a one-out, solo home run over the left center wall. Senior right-handed starter John Gorman got out of the inning with back-to-back strikeouts.
- The Tigers took the lead in the sixth, scoring three to go up, 5-4. Steven Duggar led off with a solo shot to dead center. After a one-out single, Gorman was lifted for Dunn, who gave up a two-run shot to Okey. Dunn settled in and retired the next two batters on fly outs.
- The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the inning against RHP Kevin Pohle. Hoggarth led off with a double and Hernandez drew a walk to put two on with no outs. Adams moved both runners into scoring position with a sac bunt. Palomaki plated Hoggarth with a groundout to second.
- Clemson went back on top in the seventh on two sac flies. With runners on second and third and no outs, Eli White hit one to center and Duggar followed with one to left to go up, 7-5.
- Butera gave the Eagles what would be the game-winning run in the eighth. With RHP Taylor Vetzel on the mound and one out, Adams shot one at his counterpart at short, who knocked it down, but couldn't make the play, putting one aboard. Adams stole his team-leading ninth base to move into scoring position with two outs. Butera knocked one left to drive in Adams, giving BC the 8-7 lead.
- In the ninth, Dunn walked the first batter he faced and Adams entered the game. He walked the first two he faced to load the bases with no outs, but came back to strike out the side to give the Eagles the win.

- Butera has driven in 12 game-winning runs in his career, including today's. That marked the third of this year. He has four career walk-off hits.
- Sophomore RHP Justin Dunn earned his team-leading fourth win in a 2.2-inning relief appearance. It was the first time this season he did not record a strikeout.
- Gorman threw the first 5.1 innings, allowed eight hits, four runs -- all earned -- three walks and struck out five.
